The Department of Medicine, Queen’s University, invites applications for a Geographically Full-Time appointment in the Division of Cardiology. The incumbent will assist the Division in fulfilling its academic and clinical missions within the Department of Medicine.

Candidates must be eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario and preference will be given to those who either hold or are eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Internal Medicine with fellowship training in Cardiology. In addition, the successful candidate will have completed a Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship that included expertise in complex devices (at least two years in duration) including independent implantation and follow up of CRT-ICD. There is an expectation that the candidate will develop a device follow up clinic in conjunction with the Heart Function Clinic. The candidate will also be able to demonstrate expertise in electrophysiology studies with non-complex ablation.

The successful candidate will work alongside an established Heart Rhythm team and must demonstrate 1) a history of exceptional interpersonal skills with all members of a health care team and 2) a commitment to efficient patient centered care in a team setting. The successful applicant may also be expected to assume a role in a general cardiology capacity through Cardiology Ward, Cardiac Sciences Unit, and Cardiology clinic attending duties.

The position offers an opportunity to have an important role in the ongoing academic and clinical development of the discipline of Cardiology within the Department of Medicine and Faculty of Health Sciences, with infrastructure to support and facilitate scholarly activity. Numerous opportunities exist for collaborative initiatives with other Divisions and Departments in the areas of clinical service delivery, teaching and research, with a supportive administrative structure in the Faculty and Department of Medicine. The successful candidate must demonstrate outstanding teaching contributions, particularly at the postgraduate level in the field of electrophysiology.
