PICU STAFF INTENSIVIST

Effective January 2021 a full-time permanent faculty position for a Staff Intensivist in the Department of Critical Care is available at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), Toronto, ON. SickKids is an academic health science centre dedicated to the care of children, discovery and innovations leading to the improvement in care and outcomes of neonates, infants and children. The Division of Paediatric Intensive Care currently comprises 9 Physicians, and is responsible for the comprehensive care for all patients admitted to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, including mechanical support of the circulation.

The successful candidate must have training and clinical background in pediatric intensive care and must be committed to a career as an academic clinician. Responsibilities include full-time equivalent clinical intensive care practice, and research, education, and administrative responsibilities as required by all Staff Physicians in the Department of Critical Care Medicine. Evidence of excellence in teaching and research or other scholarly work is required.

All candidates must be able to function proficiently in English, hold an MD, MBBS or the equivalent and be eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or have comparable qualifications. Candidates must hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

The successful candidate will be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. Rank and salary ($266,000 – $380,000) per annum will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
