Health PEI is seeking a locum Family Physician starting immediately for 6 months with a possible extension. This opportunity is in a well established Primary Health Care Center operating out of Queens West Network in Hunter River, Prince Edward Island.

Practice size is approximately 1200 patients of all ages. The patients are cared for by a collaborative health care team inclusive of a Nurse Practitioner, a Licensed Practical Nurse, admin support, Diabetes Educators, Primary Care Registered Nurses, and a Mental Health Social Worker. Charting is paper based. Hospital rounding is required. Emergency department shifts are not required. This is a full-time locum position with flexible hours inclusive of 1 × 11.25 ‎hour day(Monday) , 3 × 7.5 hour days and 1 × 3.75 hour day on Friday.

Physicians have the option of choosing contract-for-service or fee-for-service payment modality.

Base contract-for-service range is $96.97 - $103.86/hour.
Fee-for-service is based on the Tariff of Fees in the Master Agreement.
Inpatient care provided on weekends and outside regular contract-for-service hours is paid on a fee-for-service basis.

Incentives:

Return travel based on economy airfare. If traveling by car, mileage rates are determined by PEI Treasury Board Policy and cannot exceed economy airfare.

Application fees with the Medical Society of PEI (link is external) and some application fees with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of PEI (link is external) will be covered.

Locum support stipend to offset the cost of accommodations and other living expenses: $200/day worked June - September and $150/day worked October - May. Physicians must complete the Locum Support Stipend form to receive these funds.

Arrangements and payment for car rental and accommodations are the responsibility of the physician.

Hospital-based electronic health record system with access to lab and x-ray reports from office may be available.

Hours of Work:

Regular office access Monday-Friday up to 37.5 hours/week to a maximum 1725 hours/year for contract-for-service physicians. 
Qualification Requirements
Education
MCCEE, MCCQE Part I and MCCQE Part II as well as at least 1- 2 years of clinical experience working in Canada.
Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Prince Edward Island.
Appointment to the Health PEI Medical Staff and appropriate privileging.
CCFP physicians will be given priority.
Work experience preferable.
