The Department of Surgery at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC) is inviting applications for a permanent full-time position in the Division of Neurosurgery. We seek a neurosurgeon with additional fellowship training and established expertise in the open surgical and endovascular treatment of cerebrovascular disorders inclusive of aneurysmal disease and stroke. The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in neurotrauma and spinal surgery.

The effective date of this appointment is flexible, tentatively aiming for July 1, 2019.

The successful candidate must be proficient in English language. Clinically, the successful candidate will provide advanced care of patients with neurosurgical disease in a Division, with established expertise across all areas of neurosurgery. The Division’s activities are tightly integrated with the Odette Cancer Centre, the Tory Regional Trauma Centre, and the Hurvitz Brain Sciences Program, ensuring a complex case mix.

The successful candidate will possess a strong track record and graduate-level training in research, medical education, or patient safety with evidence of excellence in the relevant domain. The candidate must hold a Medical Degree accepted by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario ( to obtain a license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, be eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor at the University of Toronto and for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. A position has been cross-posted for an endovascular neurointerventionalist through the Departments of Medical Imaging and Medicine. The successful candidate thus might have a primary affiliation that is not the Department of Surgery.

Estimated remuneration is based on clinical billings and will depend on the primary affiliation (Medical Imaging, Medicine, Surgery), and will be in the range of $250,000 – $500,000, commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience.
