The University Health Network, Toronto General Hospital, Toronto, Ontario, Canada is seeking a full-time active staff anesthesiologist. The successful candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesia, Faculty of Medicine, at the University of Toronto. The anticipated start date will be September 1, 2019, or one which is mutually agreed upon. The successful candidate must be able to function proficiently in English and will provide anesthetic care throughout the surgical programs with a specialized focus in all aspects of cardiac anesthesia, including transplantation and transesophageal echocardiography. Clinical supervision and teaching of students, residents, and fellows is expected. On-call services will be provided in rotation. Participation in formal in-house and University teaching programs, as well as administrative duties will be expected. Protected time is awarded according to a merit-based system. Preference will be given to an early career candidate with skills in translational cardiovascular research. The successful candidate must have a medical degree, postgraduate fellowship training, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in anesthesia (or equivalent), certification in transesophageal echocardiography and eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. The successful candidate must have proven clinical skills at a high level, evidence of demonstrated excellence in research and a commitment to teaching students, residents, and fellows. |

Remuneration |
Compensation for clinical activities will be based on clinical billings through a practice plan, will depend on the amount of clinical work performed and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and within the usual range for an anesthesiologist in the Province of Ontario ($300,000-500,000 per annum).
