Health PEI is seeking a locum Family Physician from September to December 2019 with the possibility of extension. The Physician will provide the full scope of primary care in the Queens West Primary Health Network located in Charlottetown (link is external), the capital city of Prince Edward Island.

This is an office-based family practice located in the Sherwood Medical Centre in Charlottetown. Full-time office staff includes a receptionist, and two experienced shared Licensed Practical Nurses, who provide support in blood pressure measurements, injections/paps, and bloodwork, There is also collaborative care staff that manages INR and diabetes. The locum physician is required to cover the family practice only. There is no requirement to do in-patient coverage.

Physicians have the option of choosing a salary or fee-for-service payment modality. Information related to payment modalities, including salary; fee-for-service tariff of fees; blended payments (shadow billings); on-call payments; and benefits including paid vacation entitlements, CME funding, RRSP program, and more can be found in the Master Agreement.

Hours of Work:

Regular office access Monday-Friday up to 37.5 hours/week to a maximum 1725 hours/year for contract-for-service physicians.

Incentives:
Return travel based on economy airfare. If traveling by car, mileage rates are determined by PEI Treasury Board Policy and cannot exceed economy airfare.
Application fees with the Medical Society of PEI (link is external) and some application fees with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of PEI (link is external) will be covered.
Locum support stipend to offset the cost of accommodations and other living expenses: $200/day worked June - September and $150/day worked October - May. Physicians must complete the Locum Support Stipend form to receive these funds.
Arrangements and payment for car rental and accommodations are the responsibility of the physician.
Hospital-based electronic health record system with access to lab and x-ray reports from office may be available. 
Qualification Requirements
Education
MCCEE, MCCQE Part I and MCCQE Part II as well as at least 1- 2 years of clinical experience working in Canada.
Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Prince Edward Island (link is external).
Appointment to the Health PEI Medical Staff and appropriate privileging.
CCFP physicians will be given priority.
Work experience preferable.
