Staff Paediatric Critical Care Medicine – Hospital for Sick Children

The Department of Critical Care Medicine, Division of Paediatric Critical Care Medicine at The Hospital for Sick Children is inviting applications for the position of Staff Physician. The effective date of this appointment is January 1, 2017.

Primary Description – The candidate must have a clinical background in pediatric intensive care, as well as an established academic/research background to complement the academic and research productivity of the Department. Responsibilities include full-time equivalent clinical Paediatric Critical Care practice, and research, education, and administrative responsibilities as required by a Staff Physician in the Department of Critical Care Medicine. Evidence of excellence in teaching and research is required.

Additional Description
The successful candidate must be committed to a career as an academic clinician. We are specifically seeking an individual who can provide effective and collaborative leadership at the hospital, provincial, national and international levels with regard to data science and translational engineering including predictive modeling and computational physiology. The candidate must be eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or above at the University of Toronto and be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

Dedicated exclusively to children and their families, The Hospital for Sick Children is a world-renowned, state-of-the-art paediatric health care facility affiliated with the University of Toronto. The hospital is committed to ongoing learning and development, and features a caring and supportive work environment. The Division of Paediatric Critical Care Medicine currently comprises 8 Physicians, and is responsible for the comprehensive care for all patients admitted to the 18 bed Paediatric Critical Care Unit, including mechanical support of the circulation. Clinical responsibilities may also include participation in other collaborative teams within the Insitution depending on interests, experience and qualifications.

Salary will be between the range of $200,000 – $350,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Life, Group Insurance, Pension, Vision. Relocation assistance will be considered.
