The East Prince Health Network is seeking a locum family physician to provide the full scope of primary care starting Immediately to December 31, 2019. This is a collaborative office-based family practice located at the Harbourside Health Centre in the city of Summerside (link is external). It is supported by four Family Physicians, two Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Dietitians, Mental Health workers, and Medical Secretary Staff. The locum is required to participate in the call group system for inpatient care (1/5 weeks for hospital coverage). No emergency department coverage is required. The practice has approximately 1,100 patients. The Harbourside Health Centre uses an EMR system to manage care for patients and in-house phlebotomy laboratory services; INR clinics and chronic disease management including diabetes educators, COPD management, concussion clinic, hypertension clinic, etc. The clinic also offers a minor procedure room that includes OR grade minor procedure trays, POC ultrasound, and appropriate supplies for various minor procedures. The East Prince Health Network is operated by Health PEI, a crown corporation responsible for the delivery of publicly funded health services in Prince Edward Island. The physician will have the option of choosing fee-for-service or contract-for-service payment modality.
Fee-for-service is based on the Tariff of Fees in the Master Agreement. Base contract-for-service range is $96.97 - $103.86/hour. On-call coverage provided outside contract-for-service hours are paid on a fee-for-service basis. If choosing fee-for-service, the locum physician will negotiate with the permanent physician an agreement for office space, staff, and other practice supports during the term of the locum placement. If choosing remuneration by contract-for-service, office space, staff, and other practice supports are provided during regular working hours at no cost to the locum physician. Incentives:
Return travel based on economy airfare. If traveling by car, mileage rates are determined by PEI Treasury Board Policy and cannot exceed economy airfare. Coverage of application fees with the Medical Society of PEI (link is external) and some application fees with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of PEI. (link is external) Locum support stipend to offset the cost of accommodations and other living expenses: $200/day worked June - September and $150/day worked October - May. Physicians must complete the Locum Support Stipend form to receive these funds. The total yearly maximum is $7,500 calculated on a fiscal year basis. Arrangements and payment for car rental and accommodations are the responsibility of the physician. Hospital-based electronic health record system with access to lab and x-ray reports from office may be available. |

Qualification Requirements

| Education |
MCCEE, MCCQE Part I and MCCQE Part II as well as at least 1- 2 years of clinical experience working in Canada.
Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Prince Edward Island Appointment to the Health PEI Medical Staff and appropriate privileging. CCFP physicians will be given priority. Work experience preferable. |
