Job Position: Hematologist/Oncologist

Effective immediately, the Division of Hematology/Oncology, Department of Paediatrics, at the Hospital for Sick for Children (SickKids), an academic health science centre dedicated exclusively to children, affiliated with the University of Toronto, is recruiting a pediatric hematologist/oncologist at the Associate or Full Professor level to join the Section of Bone Marrow Transplantation to provide care for children with hematologic and oncologic disorders, inborn errors of metabolism and immune deficiencies requiring stem cell transplantation. The Section presently includes members with clinical, translational and basic research interests in the field of stem cell transplantation, including pharmacokinetics, cellular therapy and late effects of bone marrow transplantation.
The position focuses on the provision of state-of-the-art care for children undergoing these cell therapies, education of residents and subspecialty trainees, and creative professional activity. Clinical responsibilities include coverage of the inpatient BMT Unit, the BMT consultation service, ambulatory clinics and bone marrow harvests and participation in the out-of-hours physician call schedules for the Section.

The position also includes a leadership role in an international collaboration to provide support for clinical care and quality improvement project with a children’s hospital in China; these responsibilities will require international travel, and are expected to require approximately 50% of the successful candidate’s effort. The successful candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. Rank and salary ($300,000 – $380,000) per annum will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The success candidate will be eligible for a benefit package which includes medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability insurance, group insurance, pension plan, vision care, academic allowance, a relocations package and may be eligible for one time signing bonus.
All candidates must be certified or eligible for certification in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or comparable qualifications.
